Bernard Polar Prise is a slightly moist, medium grind Schmalzler with a complex profile of menthol, camphor, eucalyptus, and smoky, leathery tobacco. The menthol provides a comfortable burn, balanced by earthy, spicy, and woody notes. Nicotine is medium, and the snuff is easy to take, making it suitable for both beginners and intermediates.
The blend is well-balanced, with a long-lasting, evolving aroma and a pleasant, lingering finish.

This Is A Powerhouse

You'll be able to recharge your batteries on this. A sharp menthol, with burn, with leather coming through. I'd like to make that distinction that it's a little bit more leathery, than the barn-yard- earthy-ness. I'm not picking up any ammonia. The leather doesn't hang around for too long, which I don't mind, makes the snuff easier to take. In the background there is some subtle fig undertones there, but the leather and burn is more upfront. This one is intense, but I would put the nicotine in the medium area.

Similar to weis blau, polar prise seems to be the same amount of menthol over a finer ground tobacco, with stronger earthy notes than weis blau, which is a mentholated schmalzer. Really enjoyed this one.

Bernard Polar Prise 10g

I could easily see Polar Prise occupying a very niche market in snuff land. In some ways, it seems more helpful to define the niche. For starters, this will appeal to those of us who like the German stuff (very general, I know, but German snuffs have an altogether different character) best. Next, it is for those of us into schmalzlers but who are maybe not super committed to that heavy Brasil kick. So, this is for the guy or gal who either A. Is into the dark, full schmalzlers and would like a nice mentholated step down, or; B. Sniffs small mountains of Gletscher Prise and is looking for more kick. In either case, I don't take this as a stand by; however, being solidly in the "B" camp of this niche audience, I love having it on hand for those moments when I still want it medicated and need to get the kind of nicotine hit that the muddier snuffs deliver. I wouldn't advise for beginners, but I would highly recommend for Gletscher Prise fans who would like to investigate the schmalzler world. It has been my favorite of the Bernard snuffs so far.
